How national junk removal pricing works, why nobody can tell you the number in advance, and how to compare any quote against a published local price table.
Search "how much does 1-800-GOT-JUNK cost" and you will find thousands of people asking and almost nobody answering with a number. That is not an accident. The big national brands price the same way we do, by how much of the truck your stuff fills, but most of them will not publish the table. You get the real number when the truck is already in your driveway, which is a hard moment to say no.
We cannot tell you what a national franchise will charge for your job, and you should be suspicious of any blog that claims to. Prices vary by franchise, by city, and by season, and the figures people report online are all over the map. What we can do is show you how the pricing model works, hand you our own published numbers, and let you do the comparison yourself with real quotes.
The unit is the truck. Your pile fills some fraction of it, and the fraction sets the price. Two things decide whether a given company's fraction is a good deal: the size of the truck and the number on the fraction.
Ours is public. The truck is 12 by 8 by 5 feet, 18 cubic yards, about nine pickup loads. The ladder runs from a $175 minimum to $725 for a full truck, with every step published: $250 for an eighth, $370 for a quarter, $520 for a half, $650 for three quarters. Add-ons are printed too: $20 mattresses, $20 tires, $10 per gallon of paint, $50 per flight of stairs. The whole thing sits on our pricing page where anyone can read it before calling.
When a company keeps that table private and quotes only on site, ask yourself who the privacy serves.
A national brand carries costs a local operator does not: franchise royalties, a national call center, and TV advertising in every market. None of that loads your couch. All of it has to live somewhere in the price. People in the Reddit and Quora threads on this question report sticker shock at on-site quotes often enough that "get a second quote" is the standard advice in every one of those threads, and it is our advice too.
To be fair to the big brands, they show up, they are insured, and the crews are generally fine. The service is real. The question is whether the same load costs less from a local company with the same insurance and a shorter drive. That question has a five-minute answer.
A national brand books through an app at midnight. We book by phone at (404) 558-6493, seven days a week, 8am to 8pm, and same-day or next-day is usually available. They have locations in forty states. We have one, in Jonesboro, which is why the truck reaches Clayton County addresses fast. The company is owned by a firefighter and EMT-paramedic, the crew is uniformed and local, and the 1,430+ five-star Google reviews were earned one driveway at a time. If an app matters more than the invoice total, the national brand wins. Most people take the invoice.
Get your national quote, then check it against our table. The table does not care who is asking.
